Guiding the design, theory and development of both the Sole Supports Lab and Educational Seminars are our professional team of experienced clinicians, researchers, and pedorthists. The following gives a little of the background of the key members of our team:
Edward S. Glaser, DPM

studied mechanical engineering at SUNY Stonybrook, and went on to receive his doctorate in podiatric medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He was in private practice for 13 years before dedicating all of his energies to the development of his biomechanics theories. His course, MASS Position Theory & Application, has strengthened the foundation of foot biomechanics. He has earned a substantial national and international reputation for re-visioning and re-engineering the way practitioners can significantly correct poor biomechanics in the foot and lower extremity. His new analysis and practical, common-sense approach to the casting and design of custom foot orthotics have helped many care providers achieve a new level of clinical success. He offers the first credible challenge to the standard, industry techniques originated by Root, Orien and Weed in 1977. This course is immediately pertinent to all who are involved or interested in biomechanical management of the foot and lower kinetic chain. The course presentation is a very energetic, practical and refreshing approach to biomechanics. Correspond with Ed at this address: eglaser@solesupports.com
In his spare time, Ed enjoys collecting and playing expertly crafted guitars and mandolins.
Don Bursch, PT, OCS
is a physical therapist with board certification in orthopedics. He has over nineteen years of orthopedic outpatient clinical experience, specializing in the spine, shoulder, foot/ankle and ergonomics. In the course of his clinical career he developed unique exercises for patient self-management and a unique set of graphic visual aides to teach them. He has published articles on desk ergonomics and, most recently, on foot biomechanics theory. In the past five years he has given seminars on foot biomechanics to a national audience. He has worked with Dr. Glaser for over 10 years, creating many of the visual aids used in Sole Supports training materials, as well as contributing to the ongoing development of Sole Supports theory. You can email Don at this address: dbursch@solesupports.com
Don enjoys woodworking, stained glass design, gardening and pursuing wellness.
Alyson Syrja, DC, CSCS

Alyson graduated from the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) with a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Alyson was in private chiropractic practice for 6 years before dedicating all of her energies to the advancement of lower extremity biomechanics and our understanding of foot orthotic technologies. Much of her practice was focused on the treatment of common running, cycling and cumulative trauma sports related ailments. She had been involved with the athletic industry for 10 years prior to entering private practice. Alyson designed strength, cardiovascular and stretching programs for athletes of all levels. Her exposure with many challenging biomechanical cases has helped broaden her knowledge about human biomechanics.
She began working with Sole Supports technology in 1999 in a clinical setting which led to her role as a regional representative for Sole Supports, providing technical and marketing support. Alyson continues to provide that support today as the Director of Professional Development for Sole Supports. Many years of helping patients and other healthcare providers with Sole Supports continues to be her foundation for inspiration.
Dr. Syrja is an enthusiastic cyclist and runner and has extensive background in lecturing on injury prevention, spinal stabilization, ergonomics, lower extremity biomechanics, running and cycling mechanics, proper shoe selection, stretching, heart rate training, nutrition and functional training. In her spare time, Alyson enjoys hiking the beautiful trails of Colorado with her dogs.

Stuart Currie, DC

is a graduate of the National University of Health Sciences in Illinois. His interests and areas of focus include lower extremity biomechanics, sports and running injuries, and prevention. Being an avid runner he has a unique perspective on lower extremity injuries. His work as a marathon coach has afforded him ample experience in the treatment of running injuries from the beginner runner to the elite athlete. He has spoken to Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and Podiatrists on the biomechanics of gait, common pathologies of the lower extremities and injury prevention.
He is the Director of Research for Sole Supports Inc. Overseeing the construction and operation of a gait lab and research facility enables him to further develop the biomechanics behind custom foot orthotics, gait and the prevention of injury. He has published articles and informative material on common pathologies of the lower extremities and foot biomechanics theory.
In his spare time, he enjoys running and experiencing the great outdoors.
