The professionals and staff at Sole Supports, Inc. are dedicated to providing the finest functional/accommodative custom foot orthoses available anywhere. Our core value is "We Make People Better". We may not have the best looking or most slickly packaged device on the market, but our bottom line is that we make a big difference in people's lives. We realize that healthy, functional feet are literally the foundation for a healthy body and an active life. So we are serious about doing the research and making the changes to our design as needed, to offer the most effective foot support for all kinds of feet and lifestyles. See the summary article Why Sole Supports? for more information.
To accomplish this goal, we have to do more than what is commonly expected of a custom orthotics lab. First, we have to train any care provider in a completely new casting technique and theoretical model before they can place their first order with us. Our professional staff spends a significant amount of time, traveling internationally, consulting on the phone, writing articles and training materials, to insure our clients have the knowledge and skills to provide our orthotics in the best way possible.
Second, we must thoroughly inspect each cast that comes to our lab before we can make anything. Our clients know that we may have to reject a cast if we feel the resulting orthotic would not be up to our standards. Because when you design an orthotic like ours, full contact in the arch with enough rigidity to change the posture of the foot in a weight-bearing position, you must be sure that the corrected position of the patient's foot is captured perfectly.
Third, we use an expensive high-density polyethylene plastic for our shells because it offers the right mix of flexibililty/rigidity, has excellent shape memory and can be heat adjusted locally by the provider. Finally, we are the only lab that actually calibrates shell flexibility, custom for each patient, based on their body weight, foot flexibility and activity level. We use a patent pending device developed in-house expressly for this purpose.
We consistently fund new, independent research to test our theories and results. If there is a better, more efficient or comfortable way to control and correct the foot, we want to discover and implement it. We invite your suggestions to help us help you make your patients better.
